| A new challenge |
 When a bridge partnership lasts a long time, it becomes known by the double name ('Next round we play against Basher-Thrasher. Do you know who Basher is and who Thrasher? After all these years I still don't.'). That is a risk Ed and I run. No problem, we accept the fact that together we are called 'Hoogenkamp-Van der Linden', Ed and I again start something new.We have done a magazine (I was the editor), also daily bridge calendars (seven of them), books as well, 'Van A naar Bridge' (From A to Bridge, the last part still to finish), so the time is right for a bridge website. Did I say 'Ed and me'? Bad mistake: without Pien this site would not have got any further than the bar, a very disappointing range for a non-drinker and two modest-drinkers (feel free to submit your guess who is who, we raffle a walking-tour to Novosibirsk amongst the competitors with the right answer). With this site we want to propagate the fun, excitement, fascination and.... (anything we can think of) of bridge. That is why it is full of bridge, bridge and bridge again. We - Ed and me - were a bit worried it (the site) would not be good-looking enough because of our preoccupation with just bridge. Only to find out Pien made a beauty out of it! Now Ed and I will just have to provide high-class and varied content. Thanks a lot, Pien... Peter van der Linden
